Saad Hariri, the former Prime Minister of Lebanon, who is currently retired from political life and residing in the United Arab Emirates, underwent successful heart surgery on Wednesday, as confirmed by his press office.

The operation, conducted in Paris, aimed to replace a heart valve, a procedure typically performed through open-heart surgery. It was a pre-scheduled procedure. Saad Hariri, aged 53, will remain in Paris for a few days to rest before returning to Abu Dhabi, where he resides, the statement added.

In 2019, while still serving as Prime Minister, Saad Hariri underwent surgery to have a stent placed, also in Paris.

Hariri served as the Lebanese Prime Minister from 2009 to 2011 and then from 2016 to 2020. He announced his withdrawal from Lebanese political life in January 2022.
