French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin is set to visit Rabat on Sunday and Monday, in an effort to deepen security cooperation between France and Morocco amid a tense international context. The visit comes at a crucial time as both nations seek to mend a strained political relationship and strengthen their bilateral ties.

The visit, hosted by Moroccan Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit, is part of a broader initiative to enhance the collaborative efforts between the two countries in security matters. According to the French Interior Ministry, the focus will be on tackling the challenges unique to both nations, especially in a period marked by global instability.

During his stay in Rabat, Minister Darmanin is scheduled to meet not only with his counterpart Laftit but also with Ahmed Taoufiq, the Minister of Islamic Affairs. Discussions are expected to cover a range of issues pertinent to Franco-Moroccan relations, including economic cooperation and community affairs, highlighting Darmanin's meetings with representatives of the Franco-Moroccan business community and the French community in Rabat.

The primary objective of Darmanin's trip is to contribute to resolving the ongoing political tensions between Paris and Rabat. By reinforcing the security partnership and engaging in high-level discussions, both countries hope to pave the way for renewed cooperation and mutual understanding.
