Qatar confirmed a meeting will take place Tuesday with Hamas and Turkish officials to discuss a U.S. proposal aimed at ending the war in Gaza.

Qatari and Egyptian mediators handed over President Donald Trump's 20-point peace plan to Hamas on Monday evening, according to Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed al-Ansari. “The negotiating delegation promised to study it responsibly,” he said.

The follow-up meeting in Doha will include Turkish intelligence officials, alongside their Egyptian counterparts, al-Ansari added.

After nearly two years of war, the U.S. has put forward a plan it hopes will end the conflict sparked by Hamas’s deadly October 7, 2023 attack on Israel — a war that has killed tens of thousands and devastated Gaza.

“It’s too early to speak of a response, but we’re optimistic,” said al-Ansari, calling the proposal a “comprehensive plan.”

Qatar reaffirmed its commitment to mediation efforts following a phone call Monday between its prime minister, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and President Trump. During the call, Netanyahu reportedly apologized for previous Israeli strikes on Hamas in Doha.

Al-Ansari said Qatar had received clear security assurances from both Trump and Netanyahu, including a guarantee that Israel would not target Qatar again.
