Israel has offered Hamas leaders safe passage out of Gaza as part of an extensive cease-fire agreement, according to a CNN report early on Tuesday.
The Network quoted two senior officials familiar with the negotiations who said the offer was made by Mossad Chief David Barnea in meetings with CIA chief William Barns and the Qatar Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Jassim Al Thani, when they met in Warsaw.
Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Sa’oud bin Abd Al-Rahman Al Thani posted and hastily deleted an X message this week endorsing Hamas, proclaiming, “We are all Hamas… Oh Al-Quds, revolt and commemorate Al-Qassam!”
In a meeting held Thursday in Moscow, Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, blamed Israel for failing to uphold a ceasefire agreement in Gaza, originally brokered in January by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States.
Israeli troops will remain in the buffer zones they have created in Gaza even after any settlement to end the war, Defence Minister Israel Katz said on Wednesday, as efforts to revive a ceasefire agreement faltered.
