Israel opened a western section of the Erez border crossing into Gaza for the first time on Sunday, to transfer humanitarian aid into the Strip, although construction there has not yet been completed.

Israel opened a western section of the Erez border crossing into Gaza for the first time on Sunday, to transfer humanitarian aid into the Strip, although construction there has not yet been completed.

Some 40 trucks are expected to cross through the border crossing during the day.

The Erez Crossing, often simply called the Erez border, is a pedestrian and cargo terminal on the Israel-Gaza Strip border. It's situated at the northern end of the Gaza Strip, near the Israeli village of Nir Am.
