Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation, has been honoured with the Marisa Bellisario Award, one of Italy's most prestigious distinctions for outstanding women leaders, at the 38th edition of the ceremony in Rome.

The award was presented by Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, placing Al Hashimy alongside previous recipients including Queen Rania of Jordan, former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and Nobel Peace Prize laureates Aung San Suu Kyi and Nadia Murad.

Al Hashimy's recognition reflects a distinguished career spanning diplomacy, international cooperation and the delivery of Expo 2020 Dubai, a landmark global event that set new standards for mega-events worldwide.

"I accept this recognition on behalf of the many Emirati women whose talent, ambition and dedication continue to contribute to the UAE's development," she said, adding that the award also celebrates the growing strategic partnership between the UAE and Italy following President Mattarella's state visit to Abu Dhabi in January 2026.
