Jean-Yves Le Drian, the special envoy from the Élysée Palace, arrived in Beirut on Tuesday afternoon for a crucial 24-hour visit.

This visit marks an attempt to "inaugurate a new phase in the presidential process" amidst Lebanon's ongoing political deadlock.

The Lebanese presidency has been vacant since Michel Aoun’s term ended in October 2022, leading to a prolonged political crisis exacerbated by internal tensions and various national challenges.

During his brief but significant visit, Le Drian plans to meet with several key political figures.
