Newly appointed Lebanese Foreign Minister, Joe Raggi, is set to travel to Paris on Wednesday to participate in a ministerial conference on Syria, scheduled for Thursday, February 13.

During his visit, Joe Raggi plans to hold a series of bilateral meetings with fellow foreign ministers attending the conference, as well as with the heads of participating delegations. These discussions will focus on key issues concerning Lebanon and the broader regional situation.

The conference aims to coordinate regional and international efforts in support of the transition process in Syria.

This comes after Ahmad al-Sharaa was appointed president for the "transitional period" in late January 2025, nearly two months after leading the rebel offensive that ousted former President Bashar al-Assad on December 8, 2024.

While al-Sharaa is now seen as the de facto leader of Syria, his vision for the country's future remains unclear.

Given his Islamist background, concerns have been raised regarding the direction he may take Syria in the coming months.
