Libya sends envoy to Morocco

On Tuesday in Rabat, Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita received an envoy from the President of the Libyan Presidential Council, Sami El-Menfi.

On Tuesday in Rabat, Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita received an envoy from the President of the Libyan Presidential Council, Sami El-Menfi, who brought a message for King Mohammed VI. The contents of the message have not been disclosed.

This visit comes in the wake of a regional meeting held in Tunis that brought together Algeria, Libya, and Tunisia. There is speculation that these three countries intend to create a new political and economic bloc in the Maghreb, from which Morocco, a regional power, would be excluded.

There is skepticism about the likelihood of success for the regional grouping initiated by Tunisian President Kais Saied.
