Internet services and airport systems in Morocco are gradually returning to normal following a major power outage that struck the Iberian Peninsula on Monday.

Orange Morocco announced early Tuesday that internet connections were progressively being restored as international links disrupted by the blackout in Spain and Portugal came back online.

The outage, which hit mobile networks, internet services, and rail traffic across Spain, Portugal, and parts of southern France, had also affected Morocco's airports. The Moroccan Airports Authority (ONDA) confirmed that check-in and boarding systems were back to full operation as of Tuesday morning.

In Spain, 99.16% of the national electricity supply had been restored by 6 a.m. local time, while in Portugal, power had returned to 6.2 million households overnight. In France’s Basque region, the outage was brief.

The exact cause of the widespread blackout remained unclear as of Tuesday morning.
