In a significant milestone for gender representation in Lebanese politics, journalist Najat Charafeddine has been appointed as the spokesperson for the presidency, becoming the first woman to hold this prestigious position.

Born in southern Lebanon, Najat Charafeddine began her media career at Future TV, where she worked from 1993 to 2013. Future TV, a prominent Lebanese television channel, was founded by former Prime Minister Rafic Hariri. During her 20-year tenure at the network, Charafeddine gained recognition as a news anchor and later as the host of popular programs such as Why Taif? and Transit.

Her success in the Lebanese media landscape led her to cover significant global events, including the wars in Afghanistan (2001) and Iraq (2003), further cementing her reputation as a dedicated and courageous journalist.

Najat Charafeddine is married to Ghazi Wazni, Lebanon's former Finance Minister.

Charafeddine's appointment is not only a personal achievement but also a powerful step forward for gender inclusion in Lebanon's political framework.
