The National Salvation Front in Syria has issued a strongly worded statement condemning Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for what it describes as an irrational and irresponsible threat against Syria.
The group denounces Netanyahu’s remarks regarding the disarmament of three southern Syrian provinces, labeling them as a blatant interference in Syria’s sovereignty and a continuation of Israeli aggression against the country.
The NSF asserts that Netanyahu’s comments are part of a larger pattern of Israeli incursions into Syrian territories, particularly following the occupation of new Syrian lands in the wake of Bashar al-Assad’s weakening rule. It highlights the destruction of Syria’s military capabilities, which it claims were crucial for defending Syrian sovereignty.
The statement warns the Israeli government against assuming that occupying new Syrian territories will serve its long-term security interests. The NSF argues that such moves will not erase the issue of the Syrian Golan Heights, which remains under Israeli occupation and is a central point of contention.
The NSF accuses the Israeli government of misleading its own people by suggesting that a demilitarized zone in southern Syria will protect Israel from external threats. Instead, it warns that such policies will only create new areas of instability, leading to the emergence of more dangerous terrorist organizations—groups that could pose a greater threat than Hamas.
The NSF also denounces Netanyahu’s statements concerning the Druze community in Syria, calling them an insult to all Syrians and an attempt to incite sectarian divisions.
The group accuses Israel of trying to undermine the national unity and historical role of the Druze people and affirms that such actions will only strengthen Syrian resolve in maintaining territorial integrity and reclaiming occupied lands.
The National Salvation Front concludes its statement by reaffirming its commitment to Syrian sovereignty and territorial unity.
Once a member of the opposition to Bashar al-Assad's regime, The National Salvation Front in Syria, led by Fahad Almasri, hopes to play an active role in the reconstruction of Syria—provided that the Islamist regime Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) agrees to make room for all political and ideological sensitivities.
