An Israeli operation in the Gaza Strip's southern city of Rafah would result in major destruction and "atrocities" that have not been seen in the war, Qatar's foreign ministry spokesperson Majed Al-Ansari said on Tuesday. Qatar is cautiously optimistic about the Gaza cease-fire talks, he added during a press conference in Doha.

It should be noted that Qatar has been financing the Hamas for many years. Doha hosts the political bureau of the Islamist organization.

The Emirates would be better off convincing the Hamas to lay down their arms to stop the war.
