The 6th session of the Russo-Arab Cooperation Forum opens on Wednesday in Marrakech.

The Arab-Russian Cooperation Forum exists as a platform for diplomatic engagement, economic collaboration, and cultural exchange between the Arab world and Russia. While it primarily focuses on enhancing ties and addressing regional challenges in the Middle East and North Africa, it does not directly address the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, nor is it specifically designed to alleviate tensions in the Middle East.

The forum provides a platform for discussing regional issues, including conflicts, peace initiatives, and strategies for promoting stability in the Middle East and North Africa.

While it may not have the authority to directly resolve conflicts or ease tensions, it serves as a diplomatic channel for dialogue and cooperation among Arab countries and Russia on issues related to the Middle East.

It's important to note that addressing complex geopolitical challenges and conflicts often involves multiple international forums, organizations, and diplomatic efforts, each with its own specific focus and mandates.

While the Arab-Russian Cooperation Forum contributes to diplomatic engagement in the Middle East, broader issues like the Ukraine conflict require a separate set of diplomatic initiatives and negotiations.

Moroccan Foreign Minister, Nasser Bourita, took the opportunity of this conference to meet with several of his counterparts from Palestine, Yemen, Bahrain, and Sudan.

Morocco, nestled in North Africa, has adopted a pragmatic foreign policy stance towards Russia.

While maintaining cordial relations with Moscow, Morocco has prioritized its strong and privileged partnership with the United States.

Morocco's diplomatic history includes a range of international partnerships, and its engagement with Russia is no exception. Diplomatic relations between the two nations were established in 1956, following Morocco's independence from France.

Morocco's approach to Russia exemplifies its diplomatic finesse in balancing relationships with multiple global actors. It has successfully maintained a pragmatic stance that allows it to engage with various nations while upholding its own national interests.
