The U.S.  is set to deliver $593 million to Syria, aimed at supporting the local LGBT+ community, women, the handicapped and displaced, United States Agency for International Development Administrator Samantha Power said on Tuesday.

The United States has had no political relations with Damascus for many years due to the civil war and the presence of Russian and Iranian military forces, as well as Hezbollah militias in the country.
