The European Union expressed its concern after the Israeli parliament approved a law granting the government the power to prevent foreign media from operating in Israel, particularly the Qatari news channel Al Jazeera.

On Monday, Israeli lawmakers passed a bill allowing Israel to ban the broadcasting of foreign media content and to close their offices in the country.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has committed to taking "immediate actions" to shut down Al Jazeera's offices and stop its broadcasting in Israel once the bill is passed.

"The EU is concerned about the recently adopted legislation, which grants the Israeli government temporary powers to prevent foreign media from operating in Israel," said Peter Stano, the EU spokesperson for Foreign Affairs.

"Press freedom must be guaranteed everywhere, including in war contexts," he added.

Peter Stano is correct except that the Qatar-funded channel is not like other television networks.

Besides always being violently hostile to Israel in general, it supports and advocates for all terrorist groups in the Middle East: Hezbollah, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Houthis.

Furthermore, Al Jazeera constantly broadcasts false information that incites hatred and violence.

The European Union's concern is, to say the least, surprising. Probably, EU officials do not watch the programs in Arabic and English.

A few minutes are enough to understand the nature of this television channel.
