The Israeli military has ordered the entire city of Tyre, along with surrounding Palestinian camps, villages and neighbourhoods, to evacuate immediately, publishing a detailed map alongside the order on Wednesday.

The evacuation zone covers virtually the entire city and its suburbs, including the localities of Chabriha, Hamadiyeh, Jal el-Bahr, Zokak el-Mafdi, el-Bass, Maachouk, Bourj el-Chemali, Nabaa, Haouch, Ain Baal and the Rashidieh Palestinian refugee camp.

Only two coastal neighbourhoods, one predominantly Christian, the other Muslim, are excluded from the order.

"For your safety, you must immediately evacuate your homes in the area indicated on the map and head north of the Zahrani River," the military's Arabic-language spokesman wrote.

The Tyre order comes hours after a similar mass evacuation directive was issued for Nabatiyeh — itself an unprecedented move, as the city had never been ordered to evacuate in its entirety since the conflict resumed on March 2. Wednesday's order renewed and extended that injunction.
