The Israeli army announced Thursday the elimination of Ali Youssef Horchi, personal secretary, adviser and nephew of Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem, in a strike on Beirut's Tallet el-Khayat neighbourhood.
"Ali Horchi was a close personal adviser to Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem and played a central role in managing and securing his office," said Ella Waweya, the IDF's Arabic-language spokesperson, in a statement posted on X. Local media reported that Horchi had been residing in the building struck in the upscale Beirut district.
The assassination came as part of a sweeping Israeli campaign that saw the IDF carry out 100 strikes in 10 minutes across multiple neighbourhoods of Beirut, its southern suburbs and regions throughout Lebanon on Wednesday afternoon. .
Among those confirmed killed was Sheikh Sadek Naboulsi, a prominent religious and media figure within Hezbollah, who died in a strike on a complex in the southern city of Sidon.
Hezbollah's parliamentary bloc, known as "Loyalty to Resistance," issued a statement Friday rejecting and condemning all direct negotiations between Lebanon and Israel, declaring that "any outcome or result from this diplomatic process is of no concern to us whatsoever."
