The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a group opposing the Assad regime, claims that an attack in Baniyas, located in the country's north-west, was orchestrated by Israel and targeted a villa in the coastal city.

The organization's report indicates that one individual was killed and suggests that the assault was specifically aimed at three high-ranking Iranians.

In a related report, the "Nors" Syrian research center also confirmed the attack in Baniyas.

It detailed that the villa under attack had been leased just a few days prior to Iranian officials, who had escaped from the vicinity of Sayyidah Zaynab near Damascus due to an earlier Israeli attack.
