Jordan’s crown prince begin official visit to Singapore

Jordan's Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah and Princess Rajwa Al-Hussein embarked on their first official overseas visit to Singapore on Thursday.

The visit, extended at the invitation of Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, is seen as a significant step in the Crown Prince's diplomatic journey.

During the two-day trip, Crown Prince Hussein had a packed schedule, including meetings with Singapore’s top officials such as Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Finance Minister Lawrence Wong, and National Security Coordinating Minister Teo Chee Hean, according to a statement by Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Accompanied by Princess Rajwa and a Jordanian ministerial delegation comprising Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi, Digital Economy Minister Ahmad Al-Hanandeh, and Planning and International Cooperation Minister Zeina Toukan, the Crown Prince also engaged with Singaporean academics during his visit.

One of the highlights of the visit was the Crown Prince's discussions on cooperation in human capital development, which included visits to the Institute of Technical Education and the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy.

In addition to diplomatic meetings, the Jordanian royal couple participated in economic events. Crown Prince Hussein met with Singaporean business leaders and attended the launch of a joint Jordan-Singapore forum on information and communications technology.

The Southeast Asian region, with Singapore at the forefront, plays a pivotal role in Jordan’s future foreign policy considerations. This includes attracting foreign investments, advancements in education, and other strategic aspects crucial to the nation’s development.

Jordan-Singapore diplomatic relations have been solidified and continue to grow, marking a promising chapter in the relationship between the two nations.
