The 36th Conference of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU) is set to take place in Algiers on May 26-27. This significant event will bring together heads of parliaments and councils from across the Arab world, highlighting the unity and collaborative spirit among Arab nations.

The AIPU conference serves as a crucial platform for dialogue, enabling Arab legislative leaders to discuss pressing issues, share experiences, and coordinate policies. It provides an opportunity for member states to strengthen parliamentary diplomacy and enhance cooperation on regional and international matters.

The conference will address a variety of topics, focusing on regional stability, economic development, and the strengthening of democratic institutions.

Delegates will discuss strategies to combat terrorism, economic challenges, and the impacts of geopolitical changes on the Arab world. The agenda also includes sessions on enhancing legislative frameworks to support sustainable development and social justice.

The conference will witness the participation of distinguished leaders, including speakers and presidents of parliaments from member countries. Their presence underscores the importance of the AIPU as a forum for fostering unity and solidarity among Arab states.

One of the key themes of the conference will be the enhancement of parliamentary roles in achieving sustainable development goals (SDGs). Discussions will focus on how parliaments can contribute to national development plans, promote good governance, and ensure the implementation of international agreements.

The 36th AIPU Conference is expected to reinforce Arab solidarity and promote collective efforts to address common challenges. The event symbolizes a commitment to regional integration and cooperation, reflecting the shared aspirations of the Arab people for peace, prosperity, and stability.

It is unclear whether Morocco will participate in this meeting. Relations between Rabat and Algiers are very poor.
