Jordan etched its name into football history on Thursday by securing its first-ever qualification for the FIFA World Cup, following a commanding 3-0 victory over Oman in the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 tournament.

The win, delivered on the penultimate matchday of Group B in the AFC qualification stage, guarantees Jordan a second-place finish, enough to book their spot in the world’s most prestigious football competition.

Jordan’s qualification was further cemented after Iraq's 2-0 defeat to South Korea, which left Iraq mathematically unable to surpass Jordan in the standings. The result also confirmed South Korea’s place at the 2026 World Cup.

“This is a monumental moment for Jordanian football,” said head coach, whose squad showed consistency and resilience throughout the campaign. “We played not just for qualification, but for national pride.”

The victory marks a new chapter in Jordan’s sporting history, making them the latest Middle Eastern nation to reach the global stage ahead of a tournament that will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico in 2026.
