On an official visit to Sofia, King Abdullah II of Jordan met with Bulgarian President Rumen Radev on Thursday to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments, with a strong focus on the situation in Gaza and broader Middle East security challenges.

According to the Jordan News Agency (Petra), the leaders addressed the urgent need to reinstate a ceasefire in Gaza, ensure the uninterrupted flow of humanitarian aid, and curb the escalation of violence in the West Bank.

During an expanded meeting at the Presidential Palace, King Abdullah underscored the significance of Bulgaria hosting the latest round of Aqaba Process meetings, a Jordanian-led security dialogue platform. The King noted the alignment of views between the two nations and highlighted the need for stronger cooperation on shared challenges, particularly those related to regional stability and global security.

President Radev praised Jordan’s active diplomatic role in promoting peace in Gaza and reiterated Bulgaria’s support for a two-state solution to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

The Bulgarian president also noted that the upcoming Aqaba Process meetings in Sofia will tackle critical issues such as counter-terrorism and the fight against radicalisation, challenges that resonate in both the Balkan region and the Middle East.

The visit reflects a growing strategic partnership between Jordan and Bulgaria, with both nations committed to advancing dialogue and coordination amid a tense global climate.
